Food and Cultures – Eating Habits in different countries

Par 1 Have you ever tried anything that was so spicy that you burst into tears? Something so hot that you felt almost like a dragon? If not, then you should definitely try some Mexican dishes. They are usually prepared with a great deal of spices, such as garlic, opinions, jalapeno peppers, cumin and many others. However, make sure to be careful and do not eat too much Mexican food if you have digestion problems. At the heart of Mexican cuisine are three very important crops: corn, beans, and chilies. They have been a part of the Mexican diet forever, and they are consumed in all possible forms: they could be roasted, steamed, fried… Fruits and vegetables such as tomatoes, tomatillos, pear cactus, avocado, mango, papaya are used in all kinds of salsas and sauces.Interestingly, Mexican cuisine includes some ingredients that are not used in any other cuisines, for example, edible flowers or criollo avocado skin. Edible insects, such as crickets or ants, have been enjoyed in Mexico for millennia.  

Par 2 Nowadays we order rolls when we do not feel like cooking and we often do not even think that we eat Japanese food. Sushi and rolls are the dishes that come to mind first when we think of Japanese cuisine, but there are many other dishes that are worth trying. The traditional cuisine of Japan is based on rice with miso soup and stews. Side dishes often consist of fish, pickled vegetables, and vegetables cooked in broth. Seafood is often grilled or deep-fried in a light batter called  tempura. Historically influenced by Chinese culture, Japanese cuisine has also opened up to Western influence in the XX century. Dishes inspired by Chinese food (like ramen or gyōza), as well as dishes like spaghetti, curry and hamburgers, have been adapted to Japanese tastes and ingredients.

Par 3 Thai food is famous for its  exotic taste of spices, combined with sweet and sour. Sweet, bitter, salty and spicy tastes also dominate in the dishes of this extravagant cuisine. As for spices, the leaves of kaffir lime provide the unique signature of Thai food; they are used in soups as well as an ingredient for curry. The curry itself is frequently combined with garlic, ginger and lemongrass, and different hot spices. Thai kitchen tables are abundant in diverse sea and freshwater fish, shrimp, oysters, calamari and crabs. The seafood is usually steamed, cooked on coals or boiled.
